Awake

                                                        A WAKE

Remember Before The Lord

At the time for remembering,

Sit, alone or with others, at the feet of God.

There, remember the one you miss.

Speak with God about that one,

Dwell not on the pain of missing,

But on the joy of remembering.

Give thanks, with a grateful heart.

AWAKE

For the WOKE

At the feet of the teacher,

Remember the cost

Of the deeds of yesterday

And yester-year.

Consider the work planned for the day.

As you go about your tasks,

Ask God to walk with you,

To guide your feet, your hands,

Your mind and mouth.

You were given this day of grace

To show forth the glory of God.

Thoughts and a prayer as we remember the one year of Covid, and begin the next. May the Lord continue to walk with us as we find the way/

Ordination- Rev. David Miner

Rev. David and Marjorie Miner

The Ordination and Installation Service for
Rev. David Miner was on February 28, 2021 at
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Rev. Miner was installed as a Specific Ministry Pastor.

Clergy were gathered for this special day.
In 2021 they were gathered with masks.
Here is also a photo so you can see
who attended this celebration.
The Miners were blessed with extended family
that joined them for this special service.

Welcome to the Southeastern District
and we pray this verse over your ministry.

Devotion-Tools for Christ

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 - Epistle for Lent 3
Knowledge and wisdom are two different things
We can know facts about something
While its deeper meaning eludes us

In next week’s epistle lesson Paul contrasts
The supposed wisdom of the world
With what appears to be the foolishness of God

The wisdom of political and religious leaders
Concluded that Jesus had to go
Seeing Jesus die, they returned to a secure familiar

As sunrise  broke the next sabbath morning
The leaders’ wisdom became foolishness
As God’s hidden wisdom became revealed

Lured by the Internet’s ability to offer knowledge
We are tempted as were 1st century leaders
To think we know many things and so are wise

But our supposed wisdom is an illusion
We yet cannot explain the mystery of love
Or why a fading sunset can gentle our heart
Thankfully God was foolish enough
To think we were worth saving
Good Friday covering a Divine rescue plan

Because of that love, we are “fools for Christ”
Sure of purpose while we are here
and waiting to be welcomed home

To others, our serving looks foolish
But our heart knows better
Understood or not, we joyfully persist+
