1 John 3:1-7 - Third Sunday of Easter
With our first breath We become someone’s child An identity we carry all of our life As newborn children We are totally at the mercy of parents To nurture and protect us Hopefully they fulfill the parental role Not because we are ideal children But because they choose to love us anyway In astonishment John reminds members of An early Christian community That they are beloved children of God “See what love the Father has for us That we should be called the children of God That is indeed who we are!” Living through life with that identity Accomplished through the cross We are encouraged with confident joy God chooses to love us Even when we aren’t so lovable And have forgotten whose we are We seek then to help others know That whoever they are on the outside They are on the inside, also God’s beloved child+ A Devotion By Rev.
